The story behind the bag
Did you know that roughly a third of all food waste in Canadian households could be composted? Most municipalities now offer organic waste collection, which is proving to be one of the most efficient ways of reducing landfill waste. It can even produce renewable energy through the process of biomethanization.
Of course, it would be preferable not to use any bag at all, throwing table scraps directly in the bin and cleaning it up afterwards, but most of us aren’t willing to add this unpleasant task in our daily routines. Not to mention the bugs, vermin and raccoons who’d likely take up residence…
Hence, the idea of the Fitobak came from practical necessity: that of a bag that facilitates the collection of organic waste, that fits well in the countertop bins and, unlike bio-plastic bags, that is accepted in composting centers.
All things considered, we can also brag that Fitobak is the best compost bag because the manufacturer of the Fitobak, Carrousel Packaging, is the most important bread bag manufacturers in Quebec, in addition to being the largest independent packaging distributor in Canada! We therefore had all the expertise to carry out this beautiful project. We know packaging and the idea to contribute to the preservation of our planet’s resources is very important to us. The Fitobak is one of our many initiatives to make better use of packaging in order to reduce its impact on the environment.
